Do you think she loves her puppies?

With each passing day, Nevie becomes more and more attached to "the girls". She will just look over at Maddie and giggle. She crawls over to Maddie and Nana and pets them. She loves it when they sniff her fingers. It makes her laugh. The girls are so good with Nevie. They let her crawl all over them. If this isn't proof that kiddos should grow up with pets, I don't know what is. :)

Country Girl

So ever since she was itty bitty, Chad turns up the country music videos when we get home from work and we dance with Nevie. She really loves music. Now, Nevie will start "shaking it" no matter what she's doing when she hears certain songs, in particular "Country Girl" by Luke Bryan. It's the cutest thing ever and hilarious at the same time. You have it see it for yourself. Disclaimer: I'm a terrible singer. :) Disclaimer #2: We couldn't figure out how to rotate the videos.

Speghetti Tastes Good!

She's done with baby food. It's a thing of the past. The teachers told us that she refused all the baby food they tried to give her at lunch earlier this week. Evidently, it's not cool to eat baby food after you turn one. How did we not know this?? I was still sending baby food for her to eat at lunch and giving her more grown up food for dinner. I guess I was trying to hang on to her baby status for as long as possible. She dominates turkey, cheese, pasta, peas, corn, carrots and the like. However, to prove she's her daddy's girl, she LOVES his homemade speghetti.

 Excuse me... I'm eating.

It's so good. Daddy is a culinary genius!

I love this stuff!

Can't get enough into my mouth.

Seriously... what?? I'm telling you ... it's really, really good. You should come over some time and taste it. :)

Blanco River Trip 2011

Every year for the past 7 years (with the exception of the year my niece was born), we along with my sister and her family and our cousins have gone to the Blanco River. This was Nevie's first trip to the river and we were so excited. Unfortunately, it did not get off to a good start. Something didn't agree with poor little Nevie or maybe she got car sick, but let's just say we will not be showing our face at the cute pizzeria place in Salado, Texas ever again. I have 2 words for you: projectile vomiting. We were sitting there waiting on our pizza while Nevie ate turkey. All of a sudden, she gets this wierd look on her face and puke shoots out everywhere. I pick her up to console her and puke shoots out all over me. I took her outside as fast as I could to avoid a domino effect amongst those dining there. Luckily, I found a water hose at the end of the shops and hosed us off. These 105 temps we've been experiencing are good for something. The water stays warm for a long time. Meanwhile, Chad cleaned up the table and floor, asked for our pizza to go and high tailed it outta there. Nevie seemed to feel great after she got that out of her system so we ate our pizza on a patio table outside a closed shop al fresco and laughed about what had just happened. I think we've officially been inducted into parenthood.

Prior to leaving town, we took Nevie to her 1 year check-up. She weighs 20 lbs 7.5 oz and is 29 inches long. She has 4 teeth coming in on top; one of which we can already feel. So, although Nevie was not 100% this past weekend, I think she still enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with her cousins, Kayleigh, Emery, Caleb and Diego as well as her aunts and uncles.

Nevie's One Year Pictures

She melts our hearts. So beautiful. So sweet. So perfect.

She is One!

We can't believe it. Nevis Camille a/k/a Nevie, Nev, Nevster, Nevie-Nev, BG (short for baby girl), Chikita Banana, Mama, Mamacita ... I think that's about it ... is ONE! My heart aches a little. I feel like next week, she will be annoucing her college choice and at Christmas break will be telling us she is going to marry some hairy, hippy guy (not that there is anything wrong with hippies...only the hairy ones. kidding!). Ok, maybe I'm being a little dramatic. :) In all seriousness, one year ago today our lives changed. We were given the most precious gift and we are forever grateful. We are still in awe of our birth mother's love and sacrafice for lil Nevie. So amazing. Nevie is so sweet, so beautiful and so perfect. We never knew our hearts could hold so much more happiness and love. Today was such a great day. Nevie woke up so happy. We took her year pictures with Funzy, her penguin pal. I brought cupcakes to school to share with her classmates and watched several 1 yr olds devour them. They were chocolate. That was all her Daddy. I'm sure the teacher was loving us, but in Chad's defense, there weren't any vanilla ones left, or so he says. Regardless, the kiddos loved them, and it was a sight to see. One kid actually ate his in 2 bites. I was shocked! Another kid was licking the table. Hilarious! Another kid was mad after he finished his cupcake...he wanted more. We picked Nevie up early from school. She opened our present which was a puzzle. We are still working on her big gift, which is a picnic table. It just needs a coat of clear protectant and it will be ready for years of use. She also opened a present from her sweet teacher. Then, we went to an early dinner with Ma-maw, Pa-Pa, Aunt Norma, and cousins Kayleigh and Emery where Nevie ate her 2nd cupcake of the day. On the way home, she was laughing and giggling at her sippy cup. I think she was on a sugar high. Again, it was a great day!

Aw Funzy ... this will be our last picture together. I'm One today!

You make me laugh Funzy.

It's my birthday today!

Cute little cupcake.

Is this for me? This isn't our usual snack.

Ummm....delicious!

Can you say messy?

Must get all the chocolate off my fingers.

I know I'm a bit of a messy eater. Don't judge.

Little lady doing doing her puzzle.

Another present?!?!

Make a wish.

Another one? They kept cupcakes away from me for so long and now I get two in one day. I don't get it.

Who cares why ... it's good!

Emery likes it too!

Forget the manners ... I'm just diving in.

Our happy family on Nevie's 1st Birthday. Nevie really is happy. I promise. :)
