Concert in the Garden

Nevie went to her first concert this evening!! The Ft. Worth Symphony does Concerts in the Garden every May through July 4th in the Botanical Gardens. We went this evening and heard music by the Eagles. We brought a picnic, blankets, chairs and plenty of toys for Nevie. There was a nice breeze so it was actually not that hot.  We all just sat back, relaxed and enjoyed the music. It's funny; Nevie really likes music and she will just sit there and listen to it. She got pretty sleepy and actually took a few cat naps during the show, but all in all she was a champ. At the end of the show, there was a firework display. We wondered what Nevie's reaction would be to it since she's never seen or heard fireworks. She was mesmerized! What a fantastic night!

First Father's Day!

I am just now getting to blog about Chad's first Father's Day. It's been a puky week, and I mean that literally in part. I was in trial (it did not go well) and Chad had several meetings, a trial (his went better than mine) and court hearings scheduled. We were running around all week like two chickens with our heads cut off. Nevie decided it was the perfect week to teethe with the worst possible symptoms, possibly catch a stomach bug and/or just gag from drainage to the point where she puked. Whatever the source, it was a disgustingly puky week. I was puked on, Daddy was puked on, the crib was puked on, the rug was puked on and our bed was puked on. Maddie and Nana were the only ones that somehow made it out unscathed, remarkably. So that was our week in all our parental glory. ha!

Now back to Father's Day. It decided to pretend like it was going to storm so our brunch plans went by the wayside (you know crazy Nana in storms). Regardless, we had a fantastic day. We ordered in for brunch and played outside in the pool and then went over to my parents to hang out with the family and finish off the leftovers from my parents' 40th Anniversary Party the night before. Father's Day/Daddy's b-day gifts (which was the the next day): a sweet coffee cup made by Nevie at school, lots of cool, ultimate, very necessary grilling tools, a new pair of swim trunks and a new hat ... all for our Summer of outdoor fun.

Just need to get my sunscreen on and we'll be ready for the pool.

You can't have the sunscreen. I'm playing with it.

I can't wait to get out there!

By the way, I'm ready to learn how to surf too ... at least I have the proper attire for it.

Ohhhh .... the water feels good.

Playing in the water makes me happy.

Sugar for Daddy.

A&M was playing that night. Can you tell? :)

Sleepy Baby.

Best daddy and baby in the world! Happy Father's Day Sweetie!.
Daddy's sweet gift from Nevie. She made it all by herself...she's an artistic genius. :)

 And, her picture.

Nevie and her Ma-Maw and Pa-Pa

Here are some pictures of Nevie with her Ma-Maw and Pa-Pa on their 40th anniversary. So sweet! Nevie stayed awake long enough to congratulate them and she was out - fell fast asleep. I guess the excitement got to her. ha!

I'm so sleepy.  I'm too young to keep up with these party animals. :)

The happy couple and their grand kids 40 years later. Wow!

New Fav Sleeping Position

This is Nevie's new favorite sleeping position. You remember how she used to hate being on her tummy. Well, evidently things change after 10 months b/c now all she does is sleep on her belly with her bottom in the air and usually one foot under her. Not quite sure how that is comfortable, but, hey, whatever works. :)

Dresses Made from Ma-maw’s Heart

Nevie has received several handmade gifts from both her grandmothers as well as other family and friends, including sweet crocheted blankets, hats, sweaters, quilts, blankets with her name on them, paci clips, dresses and outfits, bows, a bow holder with her name on it, you name it. There is a lot of talent among our families and friends that I wish I had, and we are so grateful for all the precious gifts. My mom, who my 2 year old niece, Emery, lovingly refers to as “ma-maw” as that is how she pronounces “grandma”, recently made these sweet dresses for Emery and Nevie and I just had to capture them.

Ma-Maw made this super cute dress for me.

Nevie finds Aunt Norma's dancing in the background (look closely at the reflection in the window), which she was doing to keep their attention long enough for the pic, face the camera and to make them smile, quite humerous. Emery on the other hand does not find her as entertaining. :)

Oooohhh, what's that?

Nevie’s visit with her Aunts from Austin

Nevie’s aunts Summer and Janice came to visit this past weekend from Austin, TX. We had a great time with them. They brought her the super cute onesie of an injured lego that she’s clad in the pictures. Our grill master, Chad, grilled fajitas for us and we enjoyed a nice dinner along with Chad’s famous sangria (after Nevie went to bed of course :)). On Sunday, we all went to eat burgers at the Love Shack. So good!! Nevie loved spending time with her aunts and we hope to see them again soon!

Nevie was not interested in posing. She just wanted down so she could crawl around.

Houston Visit Continued - The Wedding

I forgot to take my camera to the actual wedding, but I received these from Chad’s parents so now I can add pics of Nevie at the wedding. Nevie was clad in a cute dress that RaRa bought her. She had matching socks, bib, bow and paci clip, but Nevie was not having any of that. It was way past her bedtime and she’d had a full day playing in the water so I didn’t want to push it. J I was doing good to get her in the dress, shoes and the little bow I brought for her only b/c I knew it wouldn't fall out and she wouldn't pull on it. Despite not having all the matching accessories on, she looked really cute and was very fashionably dressed for the wedding. Unfortunately, she slept through the ceremony, but woke up just in time to enjoy the reception.

 Yay!

What? It's kinda hard for me to crawl in a dress.

Houston Visit

Last weekend we went to Houston for Chad's cousin's wedding. We had a nice visit with Nevie's grandparents and Aunt Summer.Saturday was a hot day....it was awesome to enjoy their pool and relax. Nevie got into the lukewarm hot tub. It was like getting in bath for her and she seemed to like it. I think she's going to be a water baby, which is perfect because we love the water!!
